Mizoram University is a Central University under the University Grants Commission, Government of India. It was established on July 2, 2001, by the Mizoram University Act (2000) of the Parliament of India. The university is now well consolidated in its main campus. A plot of land measuring 978.1988 acres (3,958,630 m2) with lush greenery and scenic hills, leased by the Government of Mizoram at Tanhril, serves as the permanent campus of Mizoram University. Mizoram University has two girls’ hostel with a capacity of 100 and a girls’ hostel with a capacity of 30. Four units of a boys’ Hostel (capacity of 100) are available. At the Undergraduate level, the Mizoram University provides Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in several specializations and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) with a duration of four and five years, respectively. The university also accepts a B.Tech Lateral entry under the same specializations. To apply for B.Tech and B.Arch, Students should have passed 12th (10+2) level from a recognized board having secured a minimum of 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects. Those appearing in the higher secondary or 12th (10+2) (Class XII) final or equivalent examination in 2019 may also appear in MZUEEE 2019 provisionally.
The university provides a number of Postgraduate courses in a variety of areas. The university offers courses like M.Sc, MA, MSW, M.Com, IMBA, M.B.A, M.L.I.S and MJMC at the Postgraduate level with the duration of two years. Students seeking admission to the Postgraduate programmes must hold a Bachelor’s level degree from a recognized university. In case of Integrated MBA, Students who have passed the higher secondary or 12th (10+2) (Class XII) examination or its equivalent from any recognized board having secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST Students) shall be eligible for admission. For 2-year MBA course, graduates in any discipline having 50% marks (SC/ST/OBC 45% marks) with a valid score of CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT are eligible to apply.
For Integrated MBA, 50% seats are reserved for Students who apply through national level test UG Admission Test (UGAT) organized by AIMA while remaining 50% will be filled in through a written test organized by MZU. The written test will consist of language comprehension, mathematical skills, data analysis & sufficiency, intelligence & critical reasoning and general knowledge. Admission to the programme is done on the basis of UGAT (50% weight), followed by Group Discussion (50% weight) and Personal Interview (50% weight).
